Neutrino Short-Short Prize winner announced!
Guest Judge T Clutch Fleischmann has selected "Note-Taking While Watching Monday Night Football" by Cal Freeman as the winner of this year's Neutrino Short-Short Prize!
Fleischmann on the winning story:
I fell for the strange logic of this piece, which pulled me back into its writing, again and again. Letting go of easy answers, it offers instead the unexpected clarity of language and image--both preening and "mechanistic," understandable and unknown, all in equal measure. I'm always kind of amazed how much complexity can exist within a short form, and "Note-Taking While Watching Monday Night Football" shows just that, with each turn in its movement offering a new insight while drawing, in complicated ways, on what came before. It's another kind of measuring, another kind of unit, and I'm grateful to have encountered it.
Honorable Mention:
"Landscape with Seance & Dead Opossum" by Christine Grace Adams
